MOSCOW, Nov 3 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Supreme Court has suggested prohibiting taking businessmen suspected of violation of some economic laws, including money laundering and fraudulent deals, into custody, according to information obtained by PRIME during the court’s plenum on Thursday.
The list of crimes for which the custody should be abolished also includes disclosure of banking, tax, or commercial secrets, embezzlement, market manipulation, illegal sales of precious metals and other crimes.
The court said that if an accused person has an official recording of address in Russia, his identity has been defined, he has not ever violated any per-trial restrictions and did not hide from investigative authorities and from court, there is no reason to take him into custody.
The court has not yet approved the plenum’s draft, and it may be changed.
